Mu Sigma Phi Sorority, Inc.

December 5, 2011 – Christmas is a season of giving, and the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority dedicates itself to giving the patients of the Philippine General Hospital a reason to believe and hope for better things to come. In keeping its traditions alive, the Sorority decorated the PGH lobby and lighted the Christmas tree to bring a sense of merriment to everyone who passes by.

The event started with the Opening Prayer sung by Michelle Cristina B. Miranda, Ann Marie A. Ongbit and Blessie Marie B. Perez. The Opening Remarks were given by the head of Pediatric Endocrinology in PGH as well as Special Assistant to the Chair Dra. Lorna F. Ramos-Abad µΣΦ ‘80. It was then followed by the speech given by the Guest Speaker Dra. Domiline Coniconde-Arca µΣΦ ‘02. The UP Medicine Chorale serenaded the night away with Christmas songs which filled the PGH lobby to stir the feeling of Christmas in the hearts of all present.

The event was also graced with the presence of both alumnae and undergraduates of the Sorority as well as officials of the hospital, namely Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Prof. Marie Josephine de Luna, Deputy Director for Nursing Imelda A. Mangaser, RN and Pediatrics Nurse Lourdes Teresa B. Asprec, RN.

The ribbon cutting was led by Dra. Arca and Dra. Ma. Concepcion R. Castillo-Sison µΣΦ ’96, while the Official Tree Lighting was conducted by Dra. Abad, Dra. Arca and Prof. de Luna. Also present was Dra. Joan Trilde F. Ocubillo, µΣΦ ’93. To cap the night away Dra. Lorraine Grace B. Almelor µΣΦ ‘07 gave the Closing Remarks to what was truly a splendid night filled with lights and merry cheers.
