Robert Frost once said that the brain is a wonderful organ; it starts working the moment you get up in the morning and does not stop until you get into
the office. For medical students, brain is more than a wonderful organ that is vital to our existence. It is a subject matter, together with the spinal cord and the nerves that comprise our body that needs much focus and dedication to study.

The Mu Sigma Phi Sorority Undergraduate Sisses. Some of the attendees were
(from L-R) Jeazelle Redondo (μΣΦ ’15), Cheska Visperas (μΣΦ ’13), Sheryll Manalili, April Sales,
Lea Labayen (μΣΦ ’15), Annarose Patupat (μΣΦ ’14), Emma Magbitang (μΣΦ ’15),
Julie Gabat (μΣΦ ’12), Jaimee Palanca, Patricia Nacianceno (μΣΦ ’15) and Cybill Uy (μΣΦ ’13).
Hence, on the 12th of October 2011, as a continuing commitment to the Scholarship pillar and as part of the year-round freshmen assistance program, the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority and Fraternity held the first-ever Neuroanatomy Lecture and Laboratory Exam Review for the UPCM Class of 2016. The review started with a lecture held at the BSLR-East from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. The freshmen class in attendance was reviewed by Sis Julie Gabat (μΣΦ ’12). After the lecture, undergraduate sisses were also in attendance to facilitate a Kodachrome review, which took the form of a mock exam that uses the same mechanics as the actual exam.

The 8 stations for the lab review were facilitated by undergraduate sisses and brods of the Mu Sigma Phi.

The laboratory review that followed was held at the Dualan Laboratory in Calderon Hall. The review consisted of eight (8) stations wherein undergraduate sisses and brods taught the salient details and information that the freshmen needed to know for their laboratory exam. As well, tips on how to easily answer such types of an exam were generously given to the freshmen. The move-type review for laboratory simulated the expected laboratory exam given to LU3 students.

Fruit juice was served for all attendees after the laboratory review.
The review ended with refreshments for both the freshmen and the sisses and brods in attendance. And as the night of learning came to a close, the freshmen attendees found the brain as a wonderful organ as Robert Frost said it was. It may be vast and information-laden but learning about the brain makes one appreciate it more.
