Sis Cora Almirante is PCMC’s Chief of Perinatology, Earns NAST Book Award

Keeping true to the Mu Sigma Phi’s legacy of Leadership, Sis Corazon Yabes-Almirante was newly appointed as the Chief of Perinatal Care and Neonatology Division of the Philippine Children's Medical Center.

A member of Class ’61, Sis Cora took her residency in OB-GYN in UP-PGH. She also took further training in Maternal-Fetal Medicine in Beth Israel Hospital Boston, University of Zagreb, Croatia as a WHO scholar. Aside from being recently named the Head of the Perinatology Division, Dr. Cora is also the Head of the Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology unit.

Moreover, her book the Atlas of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology, for which she is the lead editor, was chosen as one of the Outstanding Book of 2010 by the National Academy of Science and Technology. THE DOST-NAST Outstanding Book Award is given annually for books and/or monographs published in the Philippines in various categories such as Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Social, Mathematical and in this case, the Health Sciences.

Congratulations, Sis Cora! These are notable achievements indeed!
