Refresher Courses & Reviews

Some of its more recent sessions include seminars on common community diseases and basic suturing and circumcision as well as lectures and hands-on/practical discussions on the human organ systems such as the neurosciences, head and neck, musculoskeletal, and cell biology/biochemistry.
or over eight decades, the Mu Sigma Phi has been active in advancing scholarship in all domains of society. As part of its commitment to lifelong learning – the very essence of the Fraternity’s Pillar of Scholarship – the Mu Sigma Phi has been annually celebrating its Scholarship Week. In 2016, as part of the Week’s silver anniversary celebrations, the Committee has successfully conducted the open-for-all lecture symposium EBM and Beyond: Workshop on Basic Clinical Epidemiology, the first Scholarship Summit of the Mu Sigma Phi, focusing on clinical research and epidemiology techniques and appraisal of medical literature.
On its second year, to highlight the emboldened resolve of the Mu Sigma Phi to promote the highest standards of scholastic discipline in the medical community and the society at large, the Fraternity and Sorority launched the first Scholarship Month in February 2017. To concretize, in part, our dedication to this endeavor, the MU has collaborated with the Association of Philippine Medical Schools-Student Network (APMC-SN) to hold EBM: Principles to Practice, the first-ever MU SIGMA PHI – APMC-SN Joint Workshop on Evidence-Based Medicine at the UP College of Medicine.
The Scholarship Summit consists of lecture-symposia on clinical research and epidemiology techniques, appraisal of medical literature, and break-out sessions and hands-on workshop where there will be actual applications of the principles.
