Scholarship

“A pillar which explores the science and art of medicine.
It pushes one to become a complete man, for it is only
the complete man who can be a complete doctor.”

Scholarship

Being foremost physicians, healers of the people, glory lies in what brothers share in; and that is the learning that can be found both in and out of the hallowed halls of the College of Medicine– both Doctors and Philosophers of Life. The path physicians have chosen offers difficulties, all of which appropriate, and possible to overcome. All creation offers something for them to remember and ponder, realizations that turn empty slates into great minds.

The Mu Sigma Phi demands intelligence among young men that they may become doctors; it in turn exacts virtuous knowledge from grown men so that they may be great men of science, prominent in their chosen field, successful in all their endeavors. All who subject themselves to the study of medicine have it in their futures to become doctors; they must accept the fact that the art of healing gathers students who must maintain themselves for the rest of their lives. Scholarship in the Mu Sigma Phi involves the total development of a learned man, strong in mind, body, and spirit.

Scholarship recognizes potential, and builds upon it, only requiring dedication. A Mu has the insatiable thirst for learning, thus, he is best able to equip himself and others. Both student and mentor, with clearly identified strengths, he sets upon the daunting task of education and after this, his life-long quest for learning. They are productive of great ideas and notable works for they are all scholars, of medicine and of the knowledge the world has to offer.
