Attesting to its stature as one of the most esteemed, dynamic, and responsive student formations in the premier health sciences center of the country, the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity was awarded the 2016 Gawad Chancellor for Outstanding Student Organization in the University of the Philippines Manila.
Capping off the Fraternity’s celebration of the 83rd anniversary of its founding in October 1933, the honor was given early this day at the PGH Science Hall as part of the University-wide celebrations of the 39th year as an autonomous campus of the UP System, and of the 34th UP Manila Day, led by Chancellor Carmencita David-Padilla.
A back-to-back victory from last year, this marks the 14th time that the MΣΦ has earned this coveted distinction, being the recipient of the award from 1991 to 1995, in 2003, 2004, from 2006 to 2010, and in 2015. It is the first of only two student organizations in the campus to be elevated to the Hall of Fame (conferred after earning the award for five consecutive years – a feat accomplished by the Fraternity twice); the second organization able to do so is none other than the Mu Sigma Phi Sorority.
This humbling recognition, among others, is an unmistakable testament of our drive to seek glory not for glory’s sake, but rather glory that naturally comes after significant contribution and sustained relevance to the College of Medicine, to the University, and to the country.
All for the Glory of the Mu Sigma Phi!
