Mu Sigma Phi Batch 2014
(L to R) Standing: Mairre Gaddi, Joseph Brazal, Mark Mauricio; Seated: Butch Abuel and Marvin Masalunga

"He who has a why to live can bear almost any how."

The Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity welcomes the newest brothers to its bloodline - the mighty five of Batch 2014. Having been imbued with the virtues of Brotherhood, Leadership, Scholarship, and Service, Mu Batch 2014 stands as a testament to the fraternity's continuing and eternal glory, a follow-through of what was forged by our founding fathers 77 years ago and which will be kept ablaze in the decades to come.

This year, Mu Batch 2014 showcased their musical talents with their reputable rendition of iHarana Mu. Their batch project Yes Mu Can! inspired community service with the endowment of wheelchairs to the young patients of the Philippine Cerebral Palsy, Inc. (PCPI); the university-wide book donation drive for the benefit of the children from the Casa Miani of the Somascan Fathers Foundations, Inc.; the blood donation drives for the PGH Blood Bank; and the sports and rock band gaming events at the Mu Hut. Finally, the batch took part in community transformation through the Gawad Kalinga Community Development Project in Taguig.

It is with great pride and honor that I present to you these five brave souls who finished the rigors of our initiation process.

It has been a successful year for the Membership Committee and for this, I would like to extend my deepest thanks to several people: to Batch 2013, especially to the Guardians of the Temple Reno Eufemon Cereno and Jonathan Santos for altogether putting up a great year for our newest brods; to the initiating Batch 2012 for instilling the pillars and virtues of the Fraternity to Batch 2014; to the clerks and interns of Batches 2010 and 2011 for their support and attendance in the different activities and ceremonies of the membership committee; to the Most Exalted Brother Anthony Llagas MΣΦ 2010 and Immediate Past Most Exalted Brother Ray Joseph Badulis ΜΣΦ 2009 for their continued guidance all throughout the recruitment and initiations process.

I also would like to thank Dr. Pipo Bundoc ΜΣΦ 1986, Dr. Carlo Catabijan ΜΣΦ 1986, Dr. Vergel Eusebio ΜΣΦ 1981, Dr. Jun Carnate ΜΣΦ 1994, Dr. Rainier Covar ΜΣΦ 1997, Dr. Cesar Perez ΜΣΦ 1998, and Dr. Philip Cruz ΜΣΦ 1998 for their invaluable support in this year's recruitment activities. Congratulations to the new brods! You may not realize this now, but the value of being brods becomes more important, and more cherished, as you grow older and go out in the real world. I can see this in our alumni organizations, like UPMASA. Nakaka-awa ang walang affiliation. Because you are MU, you will always have brothers (and sisters, too) to stand by you.
