The launch of Ambica Biotechnologies last April 15, 2009 at the Hotel Intercontinental, Makati City was featured on ABS-CBN’s Salamat Dok last April 18, 2009, while Philippine Star came out with its own report on its May 5, 2009 issue. Both the video and the article featured our very own Dr. James Philip A. Cruz. ΜΣΦ 1998, President of Ambica Biotechnologies. Click the "READ MORE" link below to view the article, the video in a larger size, and a short profile of Ambica Biotechnologies.
Ambica Biotechnologies Background Ambica Biotechnologies was bourne out of a strategic alliance with Reliance Life Sciences of India. This alliance brings together the vast experience of Ambica in the Philippine setting for genetics pharmaceuticals and Reliance’s extensive competencies in the field of Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics. Mission and Vision Its mission vision statements are embodied in the following : Accessibility, Availability, Affordability and Advocacy. We aim to bring these services to as vast a set of patients as can be possible. Our Services Our services provide DNA/RNA based diagnostics services for infectious diseases, qualitative tests for detection and quantitative assessment of the viral/bacterial load of infectious agents, including HIV and associated organisms like HCV, HBV, TB and CMV, using PCR, PCR-Sequencing (for genotyping) and Real Time PCR for precise quantification of viral and bacterial load, as also for expression analysis. Specialised PCR testing is also provided for HLA typing, exon deletions for Duchenne Muscular Dystropy, mitochondrial mutations for associated neurological diseases, Beta Thalassemia mutations for globin gene and Y chromosome deletion for male infertility investigations. The company in collaboration with its business partner in India, Reliance Life Sciences is conducting ongoing research on Genotype-phenotype correlations in several cancers including Oral Cancer, Breast Cancer, Cervical Cancer and Colon Cancer, with the ultimate goal of developing predictive markers in human Cancers and understanding their molecular pathology. The group aims to define single nucleotide polymorphisms indicative of high risk related to cardiovascular disease and diabetic retinopathy and establish predictive diagnostics for Cancers (breast, cervical, colon and oral).Your browser may not support display of this image. Another aspect of the company’s services include cytogenetic research and cytogenetic testing services using modified Karyotyping and Fluorescence In-Situ Hybridization (FISH) based assays to detect numerical and structural chromosomal abnormalities, including translocations, amplifications and micro-deletions in peripheral blood cells, bone marrow, products of conception, chorionic villi, amniotic fluid and cord blood. Prenatal diagnosis for all karyotypic aberrations and rapid FISH based assays for Down's Syndrome add to the repertoire of essential high-end molecular genetic testing services offered by Ambica Biotechnologies. Ambica Biotechnologies is likewise involved in Predictive Diagnostics research in the field of Oncology, with the objective of predicting increased risk of developing a disease in the future based on a test done on an asymptomatic person. A positive result only provides information about a person's risk of developing Cancer. A negative result indicates the individual's risk of cancer is the same as that of general population. The company also offers BRCA 1/ BRCA 2 mutations testing for familial breast cancer, using state-of-the-art technology i.e. DNA sequencing - ' a gold standard' and the test shows close to 100 percent sensitivity and specificity reporting both the alterations which depict the polymorphisms observed and the mutations. Turn around time (TAT) for BRCA1/2 is a record fifteen days, which is the best TAT for BRCA1/2 globally. BRCA 1/2 TAT at most labs in the world is approximately three to six months. .Ambica Biotechnologies also offers predictive tests for RET gene mutations for familial Medullary Thyroid Cancer and Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) detection and typing by nucleotide sequencing, for depicting increased risk of Cervical Cancer. The tests are highly remarkable in terms of diagnostic accuracy (sensitivity and specificity) since it uses the most advanced detection systems worldwide. Samples are analyzed with international patents and best of class facilities like Nucleotide sequencer (Genetic Analyzer), Sequence based detection (Real time analyzer), and the Cytovision software. It is with certainty that the diagnosis is made at the fastest available time. The samples are processed in Mumbai, India wherein the Molecular Diagnostics and Genetics laboratories are accredited by the National Accreditation Board for Laboratory Testing and Calibration (NABL) and the College of American Pathologists (CAP). This ensures quality, credibility and accuracy in the manner of these tests. Reports are provided in secure pdf format with easy to interpret graphs, journal references and Gel electrophoresis pictures. Ambica Biotechnologies is armed with a vision of venturing beyond the obvious and making a difference to humanity….through the field of diagnostics
“A very humble yet effective vision of which Ambica Biotechnologies is all about”
