Fresh from their first
UP College of Medicine exam, the freshmen of Class 2016 were treated by the Mu
Sigma Phi Fraternity and Sorority with a night of “detox” and fun in Mu Rock:
The Party to Rockstart Your Medlife, held last June 28, 2011 at the Malate
District Bar, J. Nakpil Street, Malate, Manila.
Close to a hundred
freshmen were treated to games, free-flowing food and drinks, and a unique
rockeoke party - now on its second installment - featuring the Mu Band,
composed of alumni brods Armand Crisostomo MΣΦ 1981 (vocals), Mark Mijaro MΣΦ 2004 (drums), Marc
Bueser MΣΦ 2010 (drums), Martin Bañez (lead) and Mark Gomez (drums) of MΣΦ 2011, Most Exalted
Brother Button Ricarte (base), Raphy Arada (rhythm), and Algene Agustin (lead)
of MΣΦ 2012,
Brent Viray (drums) MΣΦ 2013, and Rocky Jacinto (rhythm) and Niño Venida (sax) of MΣΦ 2015, while members of
Class 2016 sang along to their hearts content.
While the hosts Pinggoy
Danguilan MΣΦ 2013 and Jen Chavez μΣΦ 2015 added flair to the night’s proceedings, a
few lucky freshmen won Littman stethoscopes, Baby Netters, G&A Notes, and gift
cheques from Mangan, Soi and Cabalen, among others. Along with the numerous
brods and sisses of the Mu Sigma Phi, the freshmen were simply happy to party away
until the wee hours of the morning.
