This whole-day event was divided into a morning and afternoon segment, the former which was comprised of a medical mission, where Mu doctors were able to provide medical consults for close to 200 patients, and a deworming session for around 70 children.

Also recognized were the four privileged children from GK Baseco who obtained free eye surgery through the recommendation of Mu doctors to the 50 @ 50 program of the PGH Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, in celebration of their institution’s 50th anniversary.

Lunch was provided for everyone by the Exempli Gratia Foundation and Hewlett-Packard, in preparation for the afternoon session. Continuing the GK Health Day were a series of public health lectures on primary tuberculosis, handled by students from STAPH-CPH, and on common skin lesions, facilitated by Lionel Peters MΣΦ 2015.

This was followed by an entertaining performance by the youth of GK Baseco, and a film showing of Kalye Kalinga, one of the finalist documentaries from the 2nd Quisumbing-Escandor Film Festival for Health.

The Gawad Kalinga Health Day, spearheaded by Mu Sigma Phi-Gawad Kalinga Coordinator Aries Poncio MΣΦ 2015, is part of the Mu Sigma Phi Fraternity’s celebrations of Service Month 2011.
