Consistency has always been Mu Sigma Phi's
trademark through the years. Staunch brotherhood and sisterhood, responsible
leadership, dedicated scholarship, and self-denying service: these are the pillars
that every fraternity and sorority member unfailingly strives to attain; All
For The Glory of Mu Sigma Phi. This glory which the founders instituted in the past,
is being witnessed by today's modern world, and will continue to a magnificent tomorrow.
In celebration of MU's timeless glory, Mu
Week 2010: Witness Tomorrow's Glory was held last August 23-27.
August 23, Monday. MU week was kicked off with
the opening ceremonies of MUseo, a
modern art- inspired exhibit at the BSLR-Sidestones. Brod Copernico Villaruel,
Jr. MΣΦ '74 and Sis Regina Pascua-Berba µΣΦ '87, led the ribbon-cutting. Brods
and sisses then trooped to the MSU 2nd floor, where the Drug Bank,
now on its 59th year of service to the indigent patients of PGH, was
formally relaunched. Current Drug Bank Chairs Gerald Paul Santos MΣΦ '13 and
Majah Rabanne Jacob µΣΦ '13 spearheaded the reopening. A sumptuous Fiesta at
the Hut capped off the day's events.
August 24, Tuesday. The highly anticipated
tapa-eating contest made its return with Ibalik
ang Tapa! The Fried Tapa Mu eating contest, held in front of the MU hut. Hosted
by Francis Crisostomo MΣΦ '11, the event was well attended by members from the
campus-based Classes of 2015, 2014, and 2013. Class 2015's Lyndon Pardo emerged
as the Superior Tapa-Eater, besting
out participants who were mostly from Classes 2014 and 2015.
August 25, Wednesday. Beta-max: A Post-Fiesta Blood-Letting for the benefit of the PGH
Blood Bank was conducted beside the MU Hut. Come lunch time, people once again
thronged in front of the hut to witness It's
a Small Pie After All, the most venerable pizza-eating contest of UP College
of Medicine. Lyndon Pardo of Class 2015 once again clinched the title, being
hailed as the Pie-Eater Exemplar. After class, MU brods gathered at the PGH
Court for Batchketball, where
different batches engaged in an inter-batch basketball game. The sorority, on
the other hand, recognized the winners of Gawad
Panitikan Pangkalusugan : a Nationwide Children's Storybook Writing
Competition for Health at the awarding ceremonies and press conference held at
the Filipinas Heritage Library, Makati City.
August 26, Thursday. Service took the center
stage with Pedia Surgery Toy Donation
and Alay sa Musmos at Ina, sponsored
by the fraternity and sorority respectively. The two events for the benefit of
children and mothers were held simultaneously within PGH.
August 27, Friday. A Thanksgiving Mass for the
success of Mu Week was held at the PGH Chapel at Friday noon. Later that day, ClubMed, the Mu Week culminating party
at Crobar, had the brods and sisses partaking in a night filled with music,
dance, and drinks, all in celebration of Mu's timeless glory.
This
year's Mu Week was headed by Andro Reginald Licaros MΣΦ '13 and Marble Co µΣΦ
'11.
