All the world is our stage, and we made them know it. The cradle of humankind collided with the Philippine’s oldest and most acclaimed medical fraternity last December 4, 2009 at the 36th Tao Rin Pala, TRP: World – as Mu Sigma Phi brods showed the enthralled UP Manila audience what Africa was all about.
The indubitably engaging Fraternity performance was set to a robust mash-up of rock and hip-hop hits that projected the strength and verve of the African continent. Also in the performance was a standout step-dance beat set to chants of “MU, MU, MU”. Add to that mix MU’s unique brand of humor and daring, and the audience was merry victim to a riotous treat. By the time Pitbull’s Hotel Room Service was blaring, the crowd was wild and the brods were out of their shirts. LMFAO’s Shots was another solid crowd-pleaser. Fraternity Muses for 2009 were actress and Playboy Philippines cover girl Aiza Marquez and GMA starlet Rhea Nakpil, escorted by 2014 neophytes Marvin Masalunga and Denorson Sotalbo, respectively. With the seal out and the dance concluded, the rousing spectacle of MU-style grooving stood incomparable.
The TRP Band Segment was dominated by MU ensembles, as FATE winners Our Strong Band and MU Band took to the spotlight with The Knack’s My Sharona and Journey’s Don’t Stop Believing, respectively.
Class 2012 won the TRP Inter-class Choral Competition with Raphy Arada ΜΣΦ 2012’s outstanding composition, Huling Awit. His other masterpiece which bagged the trophy last year, The OSCE Song, was rendered superbly by the UP Medchoir earlier that night.
Congratulations to all participating brods for making the MU presence felt the world over! All for the glory! |
