The Mu Sigma Phi and its resident brothers proudly stood amongst the leaders, scholars, researchers, athletes, musicians, and crème de la crème of the UP College of Medicine as the Office of the Dean and the Medicine Student Council held the yearly Students' Convocation last March 10, 2009, at the UPMASA PGH Science Hall, with the fitting theme "Honoring the best and the brightest of UP Medicine."
The Mu Sigma Phi was awarded the Gawad ng Dekano for Leadership in recognition of its recent success being chosen as one of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations in country (awarded by the National Youth Commission and the Office of Senator Francisco Pangilinan) and for staging the First Quisumbing Escandor Film Festival for Health.
