DECEMBER 17, 2011 marked the day the brothers of the Mu Sigma Phi
Fraternity, undergraduate and alumni alike, reunited in a night of
sumptuous food and toasts to undying Brotherhood, Leadership,
Scholarship, and Service at the Loyola Grand Villas in Quezon City.
Despite the unremitting rains that evening, each brod made it his
personal mission to journey on, with the certainty that everyone awaited
them.
Convivium Fraternitas is a special gathering of Mu brods, staged not only for the purpose of furthering amity, but also to instigate plans for the Fraternity’s upcoming 80th anniversary as the first medical fraternity in the UP College of Medicine, the Philippines, and in Asia - who through the years has never faltered in its glorious saga of greatness.
The event was graced by the presence of close to 100 alumni and undergraduate brods - souls united under one imposing emblem with outstretched wings, enigmatic snakes and golden characters encircled in perpetual unanimity as brothers. MU’s omnipresent Consultant Adviser Brod Kups Villaruel ΜΣΦ 1974 was the oldest brod in attendance among 5 decades of brotherhood represented that evening.
Bearer of the Staff Marvin Masalunga ΜΣΦ 2014 presented the recent successes of the Fraternity’s Service Committee, such as the QEFF Caravan and Video Library with PHAP, our partnerships with Gawad Kalinga, and the upcoming Amputee Climb – all glorious tributes to a Mu Pillar undeniably at the heart of each brod. This was followed by the introduction of the Fraternity’s 53 undergraduate brods from the batches of ΜΣΦ 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015, and our future brothers from Batch 2016, done by Most Illustrious Brother Mark Mauricio ΜΣΦ 2014.
Among many notable attendees were Brod Jun Jacinto (BL) ΜΣΦ 1983, who, after a self-professed hiatus from the Frat’s activities, volunteered to be one of the co-hosts for the night, along with Brods Pipo Bundoc and Carlo Catabijan from ΜΣΦ 1986. The night proceeded with performance of jubilant batch songs, hearty talks among batchmates catching up on each other’s affairs and current preoccupations, and inspiring tales shared between young and accomplished brods, from whom the younger generations draw motivation from.
The Fraternity Convivium’s success were achieved through the efforts Keeper of the Flame Loloy Santos ΜΣΦ 2013 and Joseph Brazal (BL) ΜΣΦ 2014. The fraternity is also grateful to Brod Jowell Mariano ΜΣΦ 2012 and his family for generously opening their home to the brods in rekindling the interminable flame of brotherhood they have fostered in MU. All For The Glory!
No amount of rain can douse the brods’ burning desire to come together and heed the call of brotherhood. No distance is insurmountable for brothers with the spirit of the Mu Sigma Phi emblazoned in their hearts.
