Dr. Rolando Enrique D. Domingo ΜΣΦ 1993, an ocular pathologist and past Department of Health Assistant Secretary for Health Regulations, is the new and legitimate Hospital Director for the Philippine General Hospital (PGH), the country’s biggest government tertiary hospital. Congratulations from the Fraternity!
Served as Deputy Director for Administration under immediate past PGH Director Dr. Carmelo Alfiler ΜΣΦ 1972’s term and Project Manager of the Sentro Oftalmologico Jose Rizal from 2004 to 2006, Brod Eric was finally voted into position at the UP Board of Regents (BOR) meeting held on February 25, 2010. The BOR is the highest policy-making body in the UP System. After nominations for the PGH Directorship late in 2009, the BOR December meeting sought to elect a Director amid regent eligibility controversies. A walk-out and subsequent absence of quorum during the BOR January meeting left the Directorship still in question. The latest BOR meeting, finally resolving regent protests and attaining proper quorum, elected Brod Eric as the official PGH Director. In the 101-year history of the PGH, Brod Eric is the youngest PGH Director; he now takes the helm at the dawn of this new decade, as the country’s biggest premier referral center and charity hospital faces fresh challenges in delivering globally competitive health care, training, and research. Once again, a heartfelt congratulations from the Fraternity! All for the Glory! |
