Schwartz, known to all medical students and surgeons as the "bible" of surgery, is written and edited by expert American surgeons and professors. It has been a primary resource for surgical knowledge since its first release in 1969, and has since evolved as one of the leading medical textbooks in the world. Now in its 9th edition, the authors have also recognized contributions made by surgical specialists from other countries, with our own Brod Boy H being one of those chosen in the Asia-Pacific region.

This distinction is only fitting for our brod-a past Most Exalted Brother of the Mu Sigma Phi, being one of the leading surgical academicians in the Philippines. Brod Boy is known as the "Father of Laparoscopic Surgery" in the country due to his efforts in introducing and advancing the sub-specialization since 1990. Recently concluding his term as the Philippine General Hospital's Chair for the Department of Surgery, Dr. Hilvano has also been recently conferred an honorary membership in the American Surgical Association (ASA), the oldest and most prestigious surgical organization in the US (he is one of only 20 foreign honorary members).

Congratulations to Brod Boy H for another well-deserved honor! All For The Glory!
