Original recordings circa 1970, tweaked and "cleaned" days ago by the author. Thanks to the father--and-son duo of Lee (Batch 2012) and Brod Carleo Capili '74 for making this effort possible.
Ganito pala ang Mu Sounds noong 70's. Brod Carleo Capili was so kind enough to brief me about Mu Sounds 101.
Words straight from the maestro: "I compiled these songs from tapes that were recorded from a small battery operated Panasonic recorder I happen to have when the 70's Mu Sounds practiced and performed. These are only a few of the many songs we sang then. I chose those songs because of their popularity during our time as well as those that were easily arranged to fit the Mu Sounds. We didn't have a lot of time to practice then and I had to arrange the voices as we rehearsed (no written notes). A few of them were requested songs for brod's or sis's weddings. Our songs were all accompanied by guitars and our guitarists were Chito Badiola, Mike Javier and Nabs Canero. There were no accompaniment tapes then. The one who sang solo on the last song on the disc is Ed Oteyza. Here are the other members of the Mu Sounds that I remember who sang with us in the songs on the CD or mp3:
Rex Medoza
Mike Alfiler Alfie Pontejos Jake Matubis Jun Tolentino Rio de las Alas Alex Cukingnan Joe Cueto Joey Santos Jimmy Flor Vicente "Jun" Corpuz Carlo Torres Medley songs were those sang by the Mu Sounds when Rex, Chito & I from our class first joined them when we were freshmen. The rest of the members then were Alex Paves - guitarist, Vic Calica - Soloist, Ching Castillo, Bong Yogore, Pansky Nueva Espana, Ben Orejudos and Ed Saniel (?). I led the Mu sounds and arranged most of the songs we sang ever since I joined them on my freshmen year. I arranged the old songs into a medley when the older brods left. " --Brod Carleo Capili, Mu Sigma Phi, 1974
