Last May 26, The Mu Sigma Phi Foundation Scholarship Committee, headed by Sis Joie Cañal μΣΦ 1995 named 3 MU scholars from the Brods of Batch 2012. Awarded with scholarships were Kalvin Adala, Mikhail Esteban, and Jay Suarez.
For the benefit of our generous Alumni abroad, here are quick backgrounders on our three scholars.
Mu Sigma Phi Foundation Scholar Kalvin Barcelona Adala, or Kalvin, took up BS-Public Health in UP Manila and graduated Cum Laude. This native of Zamboanga City was elected as Brother Recorder for FY 2008-2009. He lists singing as one of his interests and talents, and true enough he can croon out smooth renditions of Rey Valera Classics and Boys to Men's heartbreak anthems.
Oscar Brion Scholar Mikhail Estrella Esteban, or Mickey hails from Nueva Ecija, and is one of the six INTARMEDs in Batch 2012. Mickey is unanimously considered by his batch as their most artistic member as seen in his sketches, designs, and his talent in singing. Mickey is part of the Med Choir roster that toured the US last month.
Manuel Dalope ΜΣΦ 1970 Scholar Ferdinand Luis Guzman Suarez, or Jay, is from Valenzuela. This BS-Psychology graduate from UP Diliman enjoys photography and free diving. Living up to the Fraternity's dedication to service, Jay is currently a co-chair in our Diamond Year service program that we will unveil this June. Last year, E.R. Claudio ΜΣΦ 2010 and Mark Gomez ΜΣΦ 2011 were conferred with the same scholarship grants. The 54-strong undergraduate brothers would like to congratulate Kalvin, Mickey, and Jay, and express our deep gratitude to the Mu Sigma Phi Foundation and our Alumni for their immeasurable generosity and support. |
