The Mu Sigma Phi Relief Operations, the Fraternity’s and Sorority’s disaster quick-response arm, provide calamity aid for the cities of Iligan and Cagayan de Oro, which were heavily struck by tropical storm Sendong during the weekend of December 17-18, 2011.

The last time that I climbed a mountain with amputees was last November 2009, at Mt. Batulao. Back then, we had with us a group of motley individuals—some first-timers, and some who had already scaled a mountain no less than Mt. Apo, the highest peak in the country—to support and encourage each amputee. It was an impressively inspiring feat: the first amputee climb, wherein four amputees assaulted the nine peaks of Mt. Batulao.

December 18, 2011 – The rainy Sunday morning did not stop the brods and sisses of the Mu Sigma Phi in formally promulgating the Mu Sigma Phi Gawad Kalinga (GK) Village in Sta. Rita, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Taking time off their busy schedules, resident and alumni brods and sisses were present to witness an amazing first in the history of the Mu Sigma Phi.
